Neven Maguire launches new ‘Home Chef’ TV series
Award winning chef Neven Maguire returns to RTÉ One with his seventh consecutive series of ‘Neven Maguire: Home Chef’, sponsored by Bord Bia. From Google Headquarters and the Aviva Stadium to Hawlbowline Naval Base in Cork and Bunratty Castle; the new thirteen-part series includes a whistle-stop tour of some of Ireland’s most iconic locations while Neven cooks up healthy family meals FAST!
The emphasis in this new series is on quick, family-friendly dishes rather than the more complex, restaurant-style recipes of his previous series. All the recipes in the new series can all be made in less than half an hour.
“Before we had children, Amelda and I would grab something to eat at the end of a busy night in the restaurant. Now, we try to eat as a family and that has changed the way I cook at home” says Neven “We understand more than ever the need for quick, convenient but nonetheless healthy meals which prompted me to create the dishes that I will showcase in the new series.”
The first programme will air on the 14th of January at 7.30 on RTÉ One featuring crispy goats cheese with an apple and hazelnut salad, sea bass with Irish bacon, and pork meatballs with coriander and coconut when Neven joins 80 chefs at the Aviva stadium!
The following week (January 21st) will see Neven head for Cork and Hawlbowline Naval Base where Able Cook Paul O’Shea and Petty Officer Cook John Brunnock demonstrate their talents at producing tasty and delicious dishes! Neven’s recipes will include sticky bacon chops with vegetable rosti, peach tart tatin with citrus marscapone and a speedy fish soup with prawns.
“As a chef, I’m really interested to see how other chefs cope in different environments; 80 chefs working together at the Aviva, or chefs preparing food in a tiny kitchen for 300 guests at Bunratty Castle, where two banquets are served every night. All of the chefs featured on the new series are producing extremely high quality food and highlighted the importance of ensuring that the food they purchase carries the Bord Bia Quality Mark so they know it has been produced the highest quality standards” said Neven.
The series was filmed throughout 2014 which was an extremely busy year for Neven. Fulfilling a long-held dream, Neven officially opened his ‘Neven Maguire Cookery School’ alongside his restaurant MacNean House & Restaurant in Blacklion, Co. Cavan. The state-of-the-art cookery school features a range of exciting cookery classes for all skill levels and all classes are presented by Neven.
Hosted at the school, Neven has also launched his exclusive ‘Chef’s Table’ dining experience where Neven and his team cook the restaurant’s acclaimed Tasting Menu in front of diners in this intimate setting. Neven was as also named Chef of the Year 2014 and launched his eleventh book, The Nations Favourite Food FAST!, which was awarded the prestigious Avonmore Cook book of the Year.
