Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce and Glanbia launch annual business awards
Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce, in association with the title sponsor Glanbia has launched the 2015 Glanbia Kilkenny Business Awards at a special luncheon in Kilkenny River Court Hotel, on Monday August 2th. Key note speaker Jim O’Neill, Director of Operations, Glanbia Ingredients Ireland was on hand to officially open the nomination process.
Following on from last year’s phenomenal response and unprecedented number of award entries, nominations are now being sought from local businesses who demonstrate excellence within their sector.
Nominations are free and open to both members and non-members of Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce and businesses wishing to nominate can do so using a new simplified online process by logging on to www.kilkennychamber.ie. With over 20 diverse award categories available, businesses can be entered in up to three categories which are relevant to their enterprise. Categories include Agricultural Business of the Year, Food and Drink Producer of the Year, Emerging New Business, Intern in Business Award, Culture, Heritage and Tourism Award, Service Provider of the Year and Small Business of the Year.
Speaking at the official launch Jim O’Neill said, ‘We are delighted to support the Glanbia Kilkenny Business Awards and to recognise the accomplishments of other Kilkenny businesses and the unwavering entrepreneurial spirit found across the county.’
Guests of the launch were given the opportunity to meet with the newly appointed CEO of Kilkenny County Council, Colette Byrne, in her first official engagement as part of her new role in Kilkenny.
Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce CEO, John Hurley said: “It is encouraging to see so many great Kilkenny businesses turn out for the launch of this year’s Glanbia Kilkenny Chamber Awards. As green shoots continue to emerge within the local economy, I would urge businesses to engage in the awards process; to put forward a nomination and get the recognition that their business deserves.”
Those wishing to nominate a business or enter their own for a Glanbia Kilkenny Business Award can log on to www.kilkennychamber.ie and fill in a simple online form to be considered for one of these highly-regarded awards.
Nominations close on Friday, 4th September; thereafter candidates will be required to put forward their applications for adjudication. A shortlist of finalists will be announced and go on to the interview round on Thursday, 22nd October, kindly hosted by the Pembroke Hotel and Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel.
The winners will be announced on Saturday, 21st November at the Kilkenny Chamber’s flagship event, The Glanbia Kilkenny Business Awards black-tie banquet and award ceremony in Lyrath Estate Hotel. See www.kilkennychamber.ie for more information.
