Fancy yourself as the next big thing in the culinary world?
Fancy yourself as the next big thing in the culinary world? There is an exciting upcoming venture in County Kilkenny that could help you do just that.
The School of Food, based in Thomastown, County Kilkenny is currently seeking applicants for their upcoming introductory Commis Chef Programme, ‘Modern Skills for Modern Chefs’.
The 11-week programme will run at the purpose built School of Food and will be led by a fantastic team who have years of experience in the industry. It builds on previous initiatives from Taste 4 Success Skillnet and the School of Food to help bridge the gaps that exist for suitably skilled and qualified Chefs at varying levels in the hospitality industry.
Research has shown that there is a severe shortage of chefs in Ireland, to meet demand in the industry. This is the perfect opportunity for somebody interested in the hospitality sector to get a head start into their dream job. At least 5,000 new professional chefs are required each year until 2020; and there are less than 2,000 people qualifying from accredited training institutions.
Successful applicants will get hands on experience, while learning all they need to know about the industry and the job. Graduates will leave the School of Food with an award in food industry skills which is aligned with the QQI Level 4 award.
Work experience will be organised for each candidate. Along with promoting hospitality as a rewarding career path, it will provide fully trained and qualified candidates who will be ready to step into immediate employment to the industry.
The Taste 4 Success Skillnet is funded by member companies and the Training Networks Programme, an initiative of Skillnets funded from the National Training Fund through the Department of Education and Skills.
The course begins on Monday, 26th February 2018.
