Comedian Jason Byrne’s Kilkenny Book Launch to Open Savour Kilkenny 2016
Savour Kilkenny will welcome one of Ireland’s best loved comedians; Jason Byrne to open the festival of food with his local book launch at a fun event entitled ‘Cocktails & Comedy’ at The Set Theatre on Tuesday 25th of October.
As part of the collaboration between Savour Kilkenny and Gill Books, Jason Byrne will entertain guests and share stories from his heart-warming and hilarious new book, ‘Adventures of a Wonky-Eyed Boy’.
The award winning Irish comedian has just launched his debut book, a laugh-out-loud memoir that captures his childhood adventures as an accident-prone youngster in 1970’s and 1980’s Dublin. Jason will be on hand after the event to meet and mingle with guests and to sign copies of his new book.
Illustrated by the award-winning Nicky Phelan, the book introduces a hilarious cast of real life characters from Jason’s childhood. Join them for a mad-cap journey through a uniquely Irish childhood. From first confession to first Holy Communion, school days and summer holidays to first love.
Guest of the launch will be treated to a special Savour Kilkenny cocktail upon arrival created by Langton’s mixologist Danny Mullally. The special sweet and sour cocktail includes vodka, lime, cucumber, basil & raspberry. Danny will also perform a mixology demonstration showcasing the impressive flips and flairs of the trade.
This year’s Savour Kilkenny will see a packed programme of events as the festival presents its biggest and best festival yet with 30,000 visitors expected to flock to Kilkenny over the October bank holiday weekend.

Most events are free, and highlights include ‘Cooks & Books’ by Gill Books featuring exclusive demonstrations by some of Ireland’s most popular authors including Darina Allen, Sophie White, Mary O’Rourke, Susan Jane White and Rosanna Davison to name but a few. Other highlights include, the Global Kitchen – the best of world cuisine cooked in Kilkenny, the Savour Village Market, a full children’s programme, the smallholders gathering and workshops along with the ever popular Craft Beer and Distillers Pavilion, likened to a mini ‘Oktoberfest’ with DJ and artisan street food.
