The magic of Christmas is set to begin in Castlecomer Discovery Park from Saturday As part of the experience and for the month of November only, people from across Ireland will have the opportunity to submit their favourite memories of Christmas as part of a special search to find Ireland’s most magical festive moments.
Ireland’s most magical Christmas memory will then be chosen by a specially assembled Christmas magic team in December. The winner will receive a luxury Irish family break-away and will decorate Mrs Clause’s sitting room for the duration of the festive season. Visitors who book for the month of November will also enjoy a special 10 per cent discount along with a complementary hot chocolate or mulled wine for those of age.
Set amongst 80 acres of winter woodlands, Lapland will come to life as Santa and Mrs Clause take up situ ahead of the festive period in the 17th century Old Bell and Mill house in the grounds of one of Kilkenny’s top visitor destinations. The Castlecomer Christmas Experience is now in its seventh year and is a firm attraction for families across the South East. This year, plenty of new surprise features have been added to enhance the offering.

We are very conscious that our events are never commercially focused because as a social enterprise all of our activities are firmly focused on delivering an authentic experience that enhances our surroundings, facilities and overall offering to visitors.”
Boys, girls and adults alike will escape to the fairy-tale Christmas Experience which will keep the whole family entertained from start to finish. Visitors will first enjoy the cosy surroundings of Mrs Clause’s sitting room as old Christmas movies run before meeting with Santa and Mrs Claus. Guests will then depart on the Lapland Express with the North Pole’s train master where the sights and sounds of Christmas will come to life as the train journeys through the natural winter wonder woodlands.

During the magical hour and a half experience, Santa’s little helpers might also be spotted in their Christmas Elf and Fairy village before the North Pole’s train master guides the Lapland Express over Lake Lapland and towards the Christmas Depot area. There, Santa’s sleigh awaits as it is loaded with gifts by a gigantic Wheel of Christmas.
Postage of Christmas lists in the North Pole Christmas letter box will be available right up until last deliveries on Christmas Eve. Boys and girls will remember their special visit to Castlecomer’s Christmas Experience long after Santa has returned home and Christmas stockings have been packed away.
