As well as being a partner in Purcell Masterson, John is a shareholder, director and the Chief Executive of CK Broadcasting, the company which operates KCLR 96FM, the radio service for Kilkenny and Carlow. John previosuly presented a weekly business programme ‘The Bottom Line’ on KCLR96fm on Tuesday nights from 7pm to 8pm. He is currently a director and the Deputy Chairman of NewsTalk106 (he served as Chairman of that company from 1999 until 2006). John is also chairman of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland.

John was a founding Director of Beat 102 103, a regional youth radio station and a member of its board until the company was sold to Thomas Crosbie Holdings in 2007. He is currently chairman of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland the organization representing Irelands 34 independent commercial radio stations. He is a former President of Kilkenny Chamber of Commerce and former Chairman of Kilkenny Arts Festival. He serves on a number of boards including Kilkenny Civic Trust, IRS Limited and KIDCo. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics and History from University College Dublin and a Masters Degree in Communications from Dublin City University.
